Hey, Hi, Hello I’m Vincent

Vincent is a clinical psychologist who has worked in various fields all around Australia.

Hi I am Vincent, I am a genuine, playful, creative, empathic, and warm person- this helps me create meaningful connections and change for many groups of people. I have worked with: children and adults suffering from anxiety disorders, young people who have experienced trauma, adults with substance use disorders, people suffering from depression, those who have experienced the loss of loved ones, and working with families as a whole to grow together. I practice with a process and relationship driven framework using CBT, ACT, play therapy, motivational interviewing, and interpersonal therapy.

Vincent is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and has been a committee member in the Australian Psychological Society Sydney Branch.

Vincent has published a scientific paper about a model that he and his team developed on the topic of how parenting fatigue can impact on an parent’s self-efficacy and how they engage in parenting behaviours.

Unfortunately Vincent does not write reports for use in courts, engage in family court matters, or write letters for use in immigration issues. His focus is on providing the best therapeutic outcomes for all of his clients.

Interview with Vincent

What is one thing that sets you apart from other psychologists?

My focus in therapy is to build connection and trust into our sessions, that can look different for every person. In my sessions we might sit and talk, play board games, or shoot hoops but we’re always building connection. During therapy there will be times where I guide you in understanding your mental health and wellbeing, other times you may be helping me to understand you and your context, and hopefully together we can find the best way to help you to understand, overcome, and grow.

What are your hobbies?

I started to play the guitar a couple of years ago but I’m still horrible at it. After work
I like to train in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, and when I have a free weekend (and the right creative spark) I try my hand at some woodworking projects and end up making a mess.

What is your favourite food?

If I were to pick it would be ice-cream and fries. Possibly a milkshake to match.

What is a quote that has inspired you?

I was once working with a young person and was trying to teach the concept of ‘rippling’ I had learned from Irvin Yalom. How our kind actions are like droplets hitting the surface of a still pond - the droplet makes ripples on the surface that go on and on until they’re no longer visible but are still there on a nano-scale. Similarly the effect our positive actions have on others is passed onto more and more people leaving something of ourselves in others even beyond our own knowing.
The next week this young person presented me with a picture with the words: “a simple act of caring creates endless ripples”. I still have the picture hanging in my office now!
