When we’re at school recess helps foster our physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being, as well as encouraging us to play and connect with others. When naming the practice, Vincent drew on his personal experience working at schools and with children, his long-term vision of the clinic, and his approach to his sessions. Soon he began to realise that he wanted this clinic to represent the connections we build when we play and are genuine with others - that is when Recess Psychology was born.
In the midst of a global pandemic, our founder Vincent Chau decided to fast track his long-term dream of opening a practice - with a difference. Vincent approaches his consultations with a twist. Together we find the optimal therapeutic style for you and your family - we might sit and talk, play board games, or shoot hoops but the results remain the same: there is a focus on building a safe and secure connection. With that in mind, Vincent decided to call the practice Recess Psychology, named after the best part of the school day. In his roles as school psychologist around the country recess was a time where he could build genuine connections with teachers and students.
